Our Story
Al Barakah began over 25 years ago in North West London, starting from a couple of small home-based classes with a handful of students. Alhamdulillah, what began as a simple effort to teach Islam has grown into a full weekend school serving a wide community of hundreds of students and families.
As the school grew, we recognised that many available resources did not fully meet the needs of our learners. This led us to develop the Al Barakah curriculum and educational materials, carefully designed to support children growing up in the West while remaining firmly rooted in the Qur’an and Sunnah.
A Curriculum Built on Experience
Over the years, Al Barakah has developed a structured, comprehensive, and progressive 10-year curriculum that allows children to learn step by step, building confidence and a strong foundation in Islamic knowledge at every stage. The curriculum is continuously reviewed and refined. It has been shaped through real classroom experience and feedback, guided by people of knowledge and teachers Alhamdulillah.
Our aim has always been to develop well-rounded Muslim students - confident in their identity, strong in character and able to apply their learning in everyday life. The curriculum also supports parents, helping families build strong Islamic foundations together, Insha’Allah.
Our Learning Resources
Alongside our curriculum, we have developed a complete range of books and classroom resources used within our school and by madrasahs, schools, parents and homeschooling families, Alhamdulillah. These materials are designed to be practical, structured and rooted in authentic Islamic sources.
They are actively used in classrooms and at home. Over the years they have been improved, and redesigned to ensure they remain effective, engaging and relevant, Insha’Allah.
Islamic Studies Textbooks (Books 1-5)
Our Islamic Studies series provides a clear, structured, step-by-step curriculum based on the Qur'an and Sunnah. Each book builds upon the previous one, gradually developing students' understanding of Allah, the Islamic faith, and key areas of knowledge, including the Prophets, Islamic beliefs, history, morals and manners, and acts of worship. Every topic is presented in an age-appropriate and engaging way, helping children build a strong foundation in Islam while nurturing a lifelong love for learning and practising their faith.
This series is continuously being expanded, with more books in development, Insha’Allah.
Qur’an Companion (Books 1 & 2)
Designed to help students learn to read the Qur’an with correct Tajweed from the very beginning, this series takes learners from the Arabic alphabet all the way to confident, fluent recitation. It also includes a comprehensive and clear home learning guide, enabling parents and guardians to support their child’s Qur’anic learning outside the classroom.
The aim is to build confidence, accuracy, and consistency, while strengthening a deep and lasting connection with the Qur’an.
Arabic Workbooks (Books 1-10)
Our Arabic series introduces children to the beautiful language of the Qur'an, with an emphasis on the 30th Juz'. Through engaging, colourful, age-appropriate lessons, children gradually develop the vocabulary and language skills needed to better understand the words of Allah, making Qur'anic Arabic both accessible and enjoyable. Our Arabic workbooks are structured, engaging, and activity-based, helping students develop strong foundational skills in Qur'anic Arabic.
They support students to:
- Read and write Arabic with confidence
- Build a foundation to understand Qur'anic Arabic
- Progress step by step
- Study of the 30th Juz of the Qur’an
- Build core grammar and vocabulary for future advanced study

We pray Allah ﷻ accepts this work, places barakah in it, and allows it to continue benefiting generations to come, Ameen.
